Our boy Harry- Milas Tairis Commander’s Sundance Kid- did so well at the Belton shows that he only needed two points to finish his AKC championship. Margie Blount and Rosalie Ward- Harry’s other owners- took him to the South Texas Collie specialty January 6, 2024 under Collie breeder judge Richella Veatch. Ms. Veatch placed Harry winner’s dog, best of winners for a major to finish his championship. Thanks to Margie and Rosalie for taking care of Harry and getting him show ready, and thanks to Mendy Gleason for showing Harry. Mendy is an awesome handler.

After the South Texas Collie shows we entered our new champion Harry in the Collie Club of Austin Show under collie judge Joe Reno, and the Fort Worth Collie Club Show under collie judge Maret Halinen. Both judges chose Harry for their Select Dog. Harry was shown beautifully by co-owner Rosalie Ward. There were a lot of beautiful collies at the shows, so we were very proud of Harry’s Select placements.

GCHG Aurealis Play For Keeps, (Chandler), came all the way from Washington state to our Texas Bluebonnet Cluster Shows, and boy is he beautiful! This six year old sable dog won best of breed at every show and he deserved it. Chandler is a magnificent collie.

Another collie from our family also got Select placements at two of the Bluebonnet Cluster shows. GCH Scalloway & Tairis Cupid’s Arrow. Ms. Arrow was Select bitch under collie judge Mary Benedict, and also under Maret Halinen. Arrow is co-owned and lives with Emily Martin DVM. Arrow is from the litter I co-bred with Lea Bertsch sired by Ch Milas Tairis Commander’s Stardancer, (Lucas), out of Ch Tairis Perchance To Dream at Scalloway. Emily is doing a fantastic job with Arrow!

We are very proud of Arrow and excited about all of Emily’s plans for her.

We also entered our little firecracker Ferrari (Commander’s Tairis Flashdance), in a couple of the Bluebonnet Cluster Collie shows. It was just Ferrari’s second weekend to ever be shown, and competition was fierce in bitches. Ferrari didn’t win any points, but we loved how she looked and moved with my daughter Caitlin. Ferrari is shedding since she was in season last October. Those hormone fluctuations play havoc on the girls’ coats! Ferrari’s movement though is superb! I will post a show picture of her when it’s ready. Here are a couple of phone pictures.

What a fun weekend at the Williamson County Expo Center! It’s a beautiful facility, and things ran smoothly at this new venue thanks to the efforts of the host club- the Collie Club of Austin, and also teamwork by members of the North Texas Collie Club and the Fort Worth Collie Club. It was great to see the beautiful collies and talk with fellow collie lovers.
