Grace’s 7 puppies are now 5 weeks old and doing great. This is the sweetest, and quietest litter I have ever had. I am enjoying them so much. They are getting cuter by the day too!
They will be getting their vet health checks next week and their eye checks at 8 weeks of age. This week the puppies are learning to gobble mushy puppy food and how to play with toys and each other. The puppies are way more fun to watch than anything on TV.
Here are a few snapshots of the puppies. Pictures never do them justice.
I won’t be deciding which puppy will go where until after the health and eye exams, and after they are evaluated for show potential. My favorite time to make picks for show prospects is 10 weeks of age. I may let a couple of the puppies go as pets at 9 weeks of age.
There is a good chance this will be the last litter I raise. I would love to see what my pretty sable girls Bee and Ferrari could produce bred to the right stud, but my health is telling me it’s time to wrap up my days of breeding collies. Collies have been such an important part of my life for many years, but time takes its toll.
For now, I am having a blast with these sweet puppies from Harry and Grace.
They are so beautiful (and chunky!). Have been enjoying watching them change with each post. What sweet babies!
